How to Make Hard Lotion

A friend of mine told me about this website. It teaches you how to make your own hard lotion bar, as well as lip balms and other skin care products. She has instructional videos and sells kits with ingredients and supplies as well.

What is Hard Lotion? It is just what it sounds like, hard lotion in bar form! As you rub it in your hands, your body temperature melts it and you can rub it into your skin. It is made from shea butter, coconut oil and beeswax. The perfect solution for dry, cracked  and flaky skin. Thanks Carrie!

The following is an excerpt from the Made On: Skin Products website:

How to Make Hard Lotion Bars for Dry Skin, and Lip Balm:

Ingredients: beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil

Combine equal amounts of the ingredients in a double boiler. Melt, stir well, and pour into molds. Molds can be plastic or metal. Ice cube trays and cup cake pans both work great. Lip balms may require extra coconut oil stirred in before pouring. You may want to test some on a plate (drop from dropper, cool, test on lips) before filling tubes.

IMPORTANT: for easy clean up, wipe out the bowl with a paper towel while it's still hot. Then wash with hot, soapy water.
For easy removal of lotion from container, place in freezer for 30 minutes and it should pop right out.

She suggests you store in a tin and keep in a cool place.
