Refrigerator Rolls

You can mix these up in the morning, and then let them chill in the refrigerator until late afternoon, then just knead, rise and bake in time for dinner!

1/2 cup shortening
3 1/2-4 cups flour
1 package dry yeast
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups very warm water
1/4 cup melted butter

Cut shortening into 3 1/2 cups flour. In separate bowl, combine yeast, sugar, salt and warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes. Gradually stir flour mixture into yeast, making a soft dough, adding more flour if necessary.

Cover and chill for 8 hours.

Turn dough out onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. (About 3 minutes).

Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls and place in lightly greased 9X13 pan. Cover and let rise in warm place for 1 hour.

Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter.

Enjoy!!
