German Coleslaw

This is a vinegar based coleslaw for those that don't like mayonnaise. You can add 1/4 cup more sugar in addition to this recipe, but you may like it just as it is. This is a variation of the recipe found on Mr. Food.

8 cups shredded cabbage (1 medium sized head)
2 cups grated carrot
1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
1/2 cup finely chopped onion (I prefer red onion in salads)
1/2 cup vegetable or corn oil
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp. salt

Toss cabbage, carrots, green pepper and onion in large bowl.

Mix remaining ingredients. Pour over slaw. Toss to coat, and chill.
